On Friday, September 27, numerous research and educational institutions participated in the science communication initiative, Night of Scientists. Our exhibition was hosted in the building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where nearly 1,500 visitors explored the various displays.
Students and faculty from our institute prepared an engaging array of experiments showcasing transformations from multiple perspectives. Visitors experienced a non-Newtonian fluid that “changes” in response to how quickly we apply pressure, a Van de Graaff generator converting mechanical energy into electrical energy, and an entire dark room filled with light experiments. This included demonstrations of the Fourier transform of images, the polarization properties of light, and color mixing.
Our presentation also featured guided tours of our laboratories, where visitors had the opportunity to explore and learn fascinating insights about our clean rooms, the laser-induced plasma spectroscopy lab, and correlation measurements in the electron microscope.
